Quality Inspection for Marine
Verification before goods ship, not after they arrive. Applied to the constraints that define marine: deck machinery, propulsion and shipboard systems.
Overview
Quality Inspection in the marine sector
Marine supply is a logistics discipline as much as an engineering one: the vessel moves, the port call is short, and the part has to be there when it arrives. We work to port schedules, supply corrosion-resistant specifications as standard, and provide class documentation where the equipment requires it.
Inspection after delivery is damage assessment. Inspection before dispatch is quality control. We carry out or coordinate source inspection at the supplier, verifying dimensions, materials, documentation and function against the purchase order requirement while the supplier is still in a position to correct it.
Sector constraints
Port call windows
Delivery planned to the vessel schedule, with agent coordination at the receiving port.
Corrosion resistance
Material and coating specification appropriate to salt water and deck exposure.
Class documentation
Certification packages prepared for class society review where required.
Capabilities
What we do for marine clients
Source inspection
Inspection at the supplier premises against the agreed inspection and test plan.
Documentation review
Verification of certification, material records and test reports against the order requirement.
Dimensional verification
Measurement against drawing with recorded results and photographic evidence.
Witness testing
Attendance at functional, pressure or performance tests, with results recorded and reported.
Pre-shipment release
Formal release for shipment, or a documented hold with the corrective action required.
Process
How the engagement runs
- 01
Inspection plan
Inspection points and acceptance criteria agreed against the order before manufacture completes.
- 02
Notification
Supplier readiness confirmed and inspection scheduled without holding up the programme.
- 03
Inspection
Physical, dimensional and documentation verification carried out on site at the supplier.
- 04
Reporting
A full report issued with photographic evidence and any non-conformance clearly stated.
- 05
Release or hold
Goods released for shipment, or held with a defined corrective action and re-inspection point.
FAQ
Quality Inspection for Marine — common questions
Port call windows: Delivery planned to the vessel schedule, with agent coordination at the receiving port. That shapes how the service is run, from the supplier set we go to through to the documentation delivered with the goods.
Yes. We coordinate with the vessel agent and plan dispatch against the port call window, including express freight where the schedule is tight.
When the consequence of a defect exceeds the cost of inspection: long lead times, remote installation, shutdown-critical items or safety-related equipment. For low-value commodity items it rarely is, and we will say so.
Yes. Where a nominated inspection body is required we coordinate scheduling, access and reporting with them on your behalf.
